Students, spend some time thinking about your goals, pathways, and talk with your parents/guardians prior to the start of course selection

Mission of the Counseling Department

The Counseling Department of Grayslake North High School is dedicated to delivering a counseling program that is not only positive and relevant but also developmentally comprehensive. Our approach is proactive, aiming to anticipate and address students' needs before they arise. At the heart of our mission is a transformative philosophy that seeks to inspire all students, ensuring that every individual feels included and valued. Our counseling program is firmly rooted in the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) student competencies, which encompass three essential domains: academic achievement, personal and social development, and post-secondary readiness. Through this framework, we aim to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in their educational journey and beyond.

Vision of the Counseling Department

In partnership with the entire school community, the Counseling Department envisions a future where every student is inspired to become an engaged and productive citizen. We are committed to fostering independence, resilience, and cultural competency in our students, preparing them to navigate the complexities of a diverse world. Our vision extends beyond academic success; we strive to instill a passion for lifelong learning that empowers students to pursue their goals and aspirations with confidence. By cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment, we aim to inspire all students to reach their fullest potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
