Rock and roll meets real-world learning at Grayslake North, where the Knights Café is officially back in business! This year’s student-run café launched with a Neon & Rock ’n’ Roll theme, think bold colors, buzzing playlists, and plenty of positive vibes.
But it’s not just about great drinks and good music.
The Knights Café is part of the school’s Work-Study program, providing students with authentic employment training right on campus. From customer service and teamwork to money management and inventory control, baristas at the café are building job-ready skills while keeping their classmates and teachers caffeinated.
“I feel happy working at the Knights Café,” said student barista Evie Barra. “I like making drinks and making friends with customers.”
Unlike previous years, where staff selected the café’s theme, this time the creative vision came straight from the students. Inspired by the neon colors of Trolls and the attitude of classic rock, baristas curated everything, from decorations and drinks to the opening day playlist. It’s a vibe that reflects both school spirit and student empowerment.
Open during the school day for the North community, the café also pops up for special events and extracurriculars. And starting in October, don’t miss their seasonal “Wicked Drinks”, a fun fall twist on their already beloved menu.
The Knights Café is more than a hangout spot; it’s a hands-on classroom, a creative outlet, and a place where students bring learning to life, one cup at a time.
