It has come to our attention that several student-run social media accounts are engaging in inappropriate and hurtful behavior and language. These messages conflict with our school’s values.
As a result, some of our students have expressed emotional and social impact, and we want you to be aware of this activity.
Your support is needed. There are practical ways you can assist your student and our school in cultivating a more positive and respectful online environment.
Talk with your student about their social media activity.
Discuss what is appropriate and what is not. Offensive language, bullying, or harmful online behavior can affect students’ well-being and the school environment and lead to lasting consequences.
Monitor your student’s social media activity.
New Instagram settings give guardians more insight into their teens' online activities. We encourage the use of these tools to ensure your child’s activities align with the values of respect, kindness, and integrity.Report, don’t repost or “like”.
Encourage your student to report inappropriate or offensive content to you and to our administrators. We are committed to promoting a safe and supportive environment and can only act on what we know.
Thank you for your partnership in ensuring that your student is safe and that our school remains a respectful learning environment where each student feels heard and valued.
Sincerely,
Dan Landry
